2022 Auto Parts Store Reviews
Advance Auto Parts
Advance Auto Parts really knows their stuff when it comes to supplying customers with any minor or major auto part from A - Z. It is obvious from browsing their website that there are few (if any) auto parts they don't carry. As a customer you would be able to rely on Advance Auto Parts over and over again to supply you with any auto parts you may need.
Easy to find the car part you're looking for
To sort through the thousands of auto parts supplied by Advance Auto Parts, you can add your vehicle information (year, make, model, engine), to narrow down the list of products that would fit your specific vehicle. You can also just do a quick search for exactly what you want or use their product categories to narrow down their inventory. The website is extremely user-friendly and easy to navigate.
Local store pickup
Advance Auto Parts can certainly deliver your order to wherever you may be. However, if you want your auto parts even faster, you can pick up your parts in one of their local stores. Simply view the locations of their 5,200 brick-and-mortar stores and find the Advance Auto Parts nearest you to get your parts in 30 minutes or less. If this still isn't enough to prove the ease of buying through Advance Auto Parts, they also have same-day delivery in some areas, allowing you to get your auto parts dropped off to your house by 8 pm. Needless to say, fast access to auto parts is a strength of this company
At the time of this review, Advance Auto Parts was running a 20% off $25+ sale on all the inventory in their online store. In addition to the sitewide sale running at the time, if you sign up for their email list, you can take 25% off your order. On top of this, Advance Auto Parts always offers free shipping on purchases over $25, which is a great perk.
Earn reward points
For car gurus often making auto parts purchases, the Speed Perks program is for you. You earn rewards points with all your purchases based on different memberships:
- Club: Free membership that gives you 10 points for every $1 spent, seasonal promotions, $5 perks bucks with every 500 points, and bonus points for popular products.

Full refund on returns
If customers need to return an item for any reason, they can get a full refund within 45 days if they provide proof of purchase. Products must be in the original packaging, unused, uninstalled, and unopened. Without proof of purchase, Advance Auto Parts will allow for exchanges or in-store credit. Due to the nature of some products sold by Advance Auto Parts, there is a high-level list of merchandise that is deemed"non-returnable" regardless of condition or proof of purchase. We suggest reviewing this list before buying any products, just so you aren't caught off guard if you can't return it.
Best in class
It is unsurprising that Advance Auto Parts receives an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau with hundreds of customers leaving positive feedback about their services on other third-party sites. Their extensive selection of easily searchable auto parts is sure to satisfy any customer. We are impressed with their discounted pricing as well as variety of options for delivery and pickup. Advance Auto Parts isthe leading option for anyone looking for a reliable auto part supplier.
Autohauz AZ was founded over 40 years ago and is based out of Phoenix, Arizona. They run a professional website that is easy to navigate. For all makes and models of vehicles, they seem to have just about every part you can imagine. Customers report positive experiences with Autohauz AZ, making it a great place to shop for auto parts.
Don't be misled
When you first land on Autohauz's website, it initially appears like they only sell auto parts for luxury vehicles. The main categories include BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, VW, Volvo, Saab. While they primarily provide parts for luxury vehicles, they also sell auto parts for Toyotas, Subarus, Fords, Buicks, and other more common cars. To narrow down the specific products you might be looking for, you can selectthe year, make, and model of your car in a form on the homepage or just use the search function.
Many products sold by Autohauz AZ are sold at discounted prices. They advertise the lowest prices specifically on genuine Volvo and Saab parts. You can easily see what parts are in stock, which helps you know how quickly your order might process. Free shipping on orders of $99+. If you don't make an order of that amount, a $7.99 flat rate fee will be charged for shipping. Orders take five days or less to ship.
3 year warranty
All parts sold through Autohauz AZ carry a 3-year warranty. For any returns or exchanges, customers have 45 days to send their products back. Customers simply can manage their orders through the website and submit a return request this way. Autohauz AZ boasts that they never charge restocking fees and their processing is faster than their competitors.
Autohauz AZ has received an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau. Their generous return policy and 3-year warranty on all products makes them a safe and reliable option for shopping. We highly recommend checking out the inventory at Autohauz AZ when looking to make your next auto parts purchase.
Most of us are likely familiar with the AutoZone jingle and commercials. They were founded in 1979 and have been providing customers with all the car parts they might need ever since. With thousands of auto parts, AutoZone is a good option for customers wanting a smooth online shopping experience. Instant online chats are available to help customers who aren't quite sure what parts to look for on the website.
AutoZone has over 6,000 brick-and-mortar locations around the United States so customers can conveniently buy online and pick up in store without the hassle of wandering around to find the part they need. Shopping their online store also makes it more likely that customers will purchase the auto part that actually fits their vehicle. For most products listed, a "Check the Fit" option allows you to choosethe year, make, model, and engine of your car to ensure that the part you are buying will fit your particular vehicle.
There are plenty of ways to save money by shopping for car parts through AutoZone. Right off the bat, we found a few discounts that appealed to us. At the time of this review, AutoZone was offering 20% off of $100 purchases or more. If you need a car part fast (which you probably do), AutoZone sometimes offers next day delivery on eligible items if you spend $35 or more. When browsing the inventory, a "Free NextDay" label will appear next to eligible products, so you know which items will get to you the fastest.
Last but not least, If you sign up for AutoZone's email list, you will receive $10 off your next purchase of $50 or more. Needless to say, you'll be able to shop for affordable car parts here with the mentioned discounts as well as the "hot deals" page with coupons on specific products.
If needed, customers can either return their products to an AutoZone store or mail them in. For in-store returns, customers can return eligible items with a receipt and original packaging within 90 days of the purchase. For online returns, a form needs to be filled out that can be found within the original invoice to include in the box when shipped. For items without receipts or other specific return questions, acustomer service phone number is provided to walk you through the process.
AutoZone receives an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, but their main downfall is the general theme of customers complaining about their customer service in-store. Reports of frustrated customers have spanned across multiple third-party sites. If you aren't needing to deal with customer service in person or over the phone, it seems that AutoZone can still be a good option for finding the car parts you need.
Buy Auto Parts
Buy Auto Parts was founded in 1989 and was originally a steering parts manufacturer and auto parts distributor. They are headquartered in San Diego, California, but they operate entirely online. The easiest way to find what you need from their online store is to provide your vehicle year, make, and model, and let Buy Auto Parts narrow down their inventory for you.
Price match guarantee
Buy Auto Parts boasts that they are able to keep prices lower than their competitors by not having a brick and mortar storefront and only dealing with online customers. Buy Auto Parts has a price matching policy that allows them to beat any competitor's pricing brand for brand (some exclusions apply). When viewing the online product selection at Buy Auto Parts, nearly every item appears to be discounted significantly.
Shipping and returns
Customers will receive free shipping on their orders if they spend over $99. All parts are available for overnight shipping, but these costs depend on the order quantity and where it is being shipped to. For basic shipping, it usually takes between 1 and 5 days to receive the order. Some customers did complain that they placed orders for parts that turned out to not actually be in stock and had to wait long periodsof time to reach customer service.
Returns can be sent back to Buy Auto Parts within 60 days of the original purchase date if the product is in its original condition. A form is provided on the website under the returns section to be filled out before sending the parts back. The same form is to be used for returning parts that have been installed but are still under warranty. No restocking fees are charged for any returns, which is nice.
Great choice if you're not in a hurry
Buy Auto Parts receives an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Their already low prices and price match guarantee make their online store a great resource for people looking for affordable auto parts. They are up-to-date with their listed vehicle makes and models from the current and future year, so whether your car is new or old, Buy Auto Parts is a great place to look for parts. If you aren't in a rush toget the part you need, Buy Auto Parts is a good option for cost-effective auto parts solutions.
Although Pep Boys has been selling auto parts for almost 100 years, they have more recently been known for their push to expand service and tire centers throughout the United States. If you need to make an appointment for your car to be serviced at a location near you, this can be done directly from their website. They also run an extensive online retail shop for auto parts that is easy to browse with their searchfunction and product categories.
Local pickup available
There are over 920 Pep Boys brick-and-mortar locations where customers can buy online and pick up in store. There are many reports of customers having a poor experience with customer experience via phone or in-person at Pep Boys, so hopefully you won't have to deal much with employees if you do an in-store pickup. Despite this negative feedback, the Better Business Bureau gives Pep Boys an A+ rating. Their onlineshopping experience is overall satisfactory to most shoppers.
There are fewer discounted items sold through Pep Boys than some of their competitors. You'll likely find quality auto parts here, but you might pay a bit more for them. We recommend browsing their savings page to view the current coupons in case one of them matches with the product you are looking for. There is no price match policy like some of our higher-rated auto part retailers, so you pay the listed price forwhat you find on Pep Boys' online store.
Shipping and returns
Shipping prices are determined based on the dollar amount spent, weight, and length of auto parts. The only way to qualify for free shipping through Pep Boys is if customers spend over $75, have their product weigh less than 75 lbs., and measure smaller than 130". Online orders usually process in 1-2 business days, and shipping typically takes 5-7 days on top of that.
Pep Boys has a fairly standard return policy that gives customers full refunds if they return their new, unused items within 30 days with the receipt. Returns without a receipt are only eligible for exchanges. Some items are non-returnable, and these products are listed on the website including items like performance accessories, electrical items, sound systems, tire chains, and clearance merchandise.
Overall good experience
Overall, Pep Boys is a good place to shop for auto parts. They don't offer anything that makes them stand out as one of the best retailers we have found, but we wouldn't deter anyone from buying parts here. They have been around so long that we feel confident in them providing a wide variety of auto parts, accessories, and maintenance products that are likely to satisfy most customers' needs.
Get All Parts
Get All Parts is a newer company, established in 2010 and that only sells aftermarket parts rather than OEM parts. Like many of their competitors, Get All Parts sells both interior and exterior auto parts as well as fluids and accessories for maintenance. By submitting your vehicle year, make, and model in a form on the home page, Get All Parts can narrow down a list of products that will work for your specific vehicle.
Prices for the aftermarket inventory sold through Get All Parts are competitive. With their price match guarantee, customers can do a little extra work to ensure they are getting the best deal for whatever they may be looking to purchase. By notifying customer service with evidence of a web address featuring the competitor's cheaper product, customer service will apply a price discount to the order.
Customers have 60 days to return any new, unused items to Get All Parts should they decide they don't need or want them. All products come with a five-year limited warranty and a four step process for submitting claims:
- Contact customer support and provide details about the faulty part and when issues first began as well as the order number
- Provide additional required information which may include a photo proving damage, proof of VIN, vehicle maintenance records, etc.
- Take the parts to a shipping center using the prepaid shipping label provided by Get All Parts.
- Within 14 days, Get All Parts will give customers the option of a 100% refund or a replacement part.
Get All Parts receives an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, less customer feedback is available for Get All Parts than some of their competitors because they haven't been around quite as long. Nothing about Get All Parts stands out as more exceptional than any other auto parts supplier, so they've earned an average rating from us. Our higher-rated sites have a bigger product inventory, sell OEMparts, and also have generous return policies and positive customer feedback.
Auto Barn started out in Brooklyn, NY as an auto parts store and has since expanded with their online presence. They carry everything in the realm of car accessories, auto parts, car care products, and oils and additives. Their website layout and text display is a bit outdated, but it gets the job done. With the search function and category breakdowns, customers should be able to find what they are looking for here.
Cost discounts, slow processing
It appears as if most products on the Auto Barn website are discounted to some extent. Their pricing is definitely fair and competitive, which is reassuring. At the time of this review, Auto Barn was offering a discount code for $10 off $89 or $5 off $49 orders. We like to see businesses who reward their customers for making bigger orders since sometimes these types of purchases can be costly. Free shipping is givenfor orders of $69 or more. If a purchase is made for less than $69, shipping is a flat-rate cost of $8.00. Something to note is that some customers report really slow shipping times from Auto Barn due to slow order processing.
Once orders have been placed, the amount of time it takes to get them processed depends on product availability. If products are in stock, they usually take 1-2 days to prepare for shipment and an additional 1-5 days for shipping. If you have questions about the status of your order, we suggest reaching out to customer service. To do this, an online contact form is provided and an Auto Barn representative will replywithin 1 business day. Other options are to call Auto Barn directly with the toll free number provided on the website.
30 days for returns
Inventory can be returned to Auto Barn within 30 days of receipt of order. Before sending anything back, customers will need to complete an online form called a "return authorization" for customer service to review. If they don't, it will delay processing and the return is subject to a 20% restocking fee. This same restocking fee might also be charged if the return is received by Auto Barn in less than newcondition and is un-resellable. Some customers have reported having to jump through hoops to get refunds and/or exchanges for incorrect parts they received.
Hit and miss
Auto Barn receives an A- rating by the Better Business Bureau, which is overall better than some individual customer feedback they receive. Customers report receiving parts that don't fit their vehicles, as well as having issues with Auto Barn's customer service being unhelpful. This is not to say that people haven't had good experiences here, because there are reports of customers who were happy with the fair pricing, smooth delivery, and vast selection of auto parts. Basically, it seems that Auto Barn is hit and miss as far as parts fitting and shipping and return processes. Make sure you double check the product descriptions of parts before ordering anything from Auto Barn to save yourself any potential hassles.
Car Parts supplies over a million auto parts for vehicles ranging from 1980 to the present year. From the interior to the exterior, they have just about every fitted car part imaginable. Customers can use the search bar function to find what they are looking for, or provide their vehicle year, make, and model information for a narrower product list. However, some customers report being shown car parts for their specificvehicle that don't actually fit and having to go through the hassle of returning the part after it was purchased.
Low price guarantee
Car Parts has a low price guarantee that allows customers to get the lowest price on a product that is also sold by competitors. A phone number is provided for customers to call in and alert Car Parts of a new product they have found made by the same manufacturer advertised at a lower price. On the spot, Car Parts claims they will beat or match the price of competing products.
90 day return policy
A 90-day return policy is in place that allows products to be sent back in their original condition with all their components. Customers must either file online or call the returns department to initiate a return. Refunds are typically processed within 24-48 hours on the payment method customers used to buy the product. Customers are responsible for paying return shipping unless there was an error made by Car Partsthat caused the need for the return.
At the time of this review, a "Write-A-Review Sweepstakes" was going on where customers were entered to win a $500 shopping spree if they left a product review. We like the idea of this because it tells us that Car Parts stands behind their product quality and aren't afraid of their customer feedback. It is helpful to see honest customer reviews on the products listed on the Car Parts website to get a betteridea of whether or not a part will be a smart purchase or not.
Complaints, complaints, complaints
We were disappointed to find that Car Parts has a D+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Common complaints include receiving the wrong car parts, difficulties receiving refunds for returned parts, and misleading product descriptions. The amount of feedback regarding these issues makes us unwilling to suggest Car Parts as a good option for purchasing vehicle parts. For a more reliable, smooth experience, we recommendshopping at one of our higher-rated auto parts sites.
Parts Geek was founded in 2008 and offers both OEM and after-market auto parts. If the online browsing experience is important to you, shopping at Parts Geek might be painful. Their website looks as if it has not been updated since the 90's with text-heavy pages, lack of helpful search categories, and a distracting layout. Their website needs a major overhaul to compete with other auto parts retailers that make iteasy to find the auto parts customers are looking for.
Disappointing inventory, questionable pricing
We noticed while browsing their inventory that they don't seem to have a wide selection of items for vehicles made within the last few years. Their inventory definitely doesn't seem to be as complete as some of their competing auto part suppliers.
Parts Geek boasts that they "scour the web" to make sure they always have low prices. This may be true, but if they were really dedicated to low prices, they would have a low price guarantee like their competitors do. If they have the parts someone is looking for, they can get them price matched at one of our higher-rated sites and buy from a company that presents themselves more professionally.
Frustrating return process
The Better Business Bureau gives Parts Geek an A- rating. Many customers report fast shipping and satisfaction with the order they receive. However, the negative feedback given by customers usually revolves around issues with returns and thecomplicated process it turns out to be. This includes not having return shipping paid for when Parts Geek sends the wrong part, stubborn customer service representatives, and difficulties getting accepted for a refund.
The return policy at Parts Geek requires an RMA number for all items being sent back. Customers have 30 days to request an RMA number through the website and get their products shipped back. This is a pretty standard procedure, but the part that really gets us is the return shipping. Regardless of the party at fault for the return, the customer is responsible for paying shipping costs. This means if Parts Geek sendsyou a part entirely different from what you ordered, you will be the one footing the bill to send it back to them. In addition, if you receive an order with missing pieces, Parts Geek says you'll need to either return your entire order or purchase the missing pieces elsewhere. Are you kidding?
Buy at your own risk
Parts Geek may offer the parts you need at an affordable price, but this is also the case with our higher-rated auto part suppliers. We suggest using one of them for a better online shopping experience and return policy should you need to use it. Parts Geek has earned our lowest rating among auto part suppliers.
